Poetry, Dancing Chimps, and the Finish Line
This is something that I originally wrote as a Facebook note almost exactly a year ago. It's sort of seasonal and I sort of remember getting a chuckle out of writing it so I sort of thought that I'd repost it here. Plus, this post officially places me at the finish line of my blogging goal of 104 posts for 2009. Look! A hula-dancing chimp even showed up to congratulate me! Yeah, I realize that perhaps this is a little bit cheating because it's not officially fresh material, but if you're going to openly challenge the validity of my little blog-goal, you have way too much time on your hands. Plus, I'll send my hula-chimp to kick your ass.
Here's a little song I wrote whilst pondering some of my favorite things...
Bacon on ice cream and whiskers on a kitty
Finding a dish with a correct fitting liddy
Caller ID for when the phone rings
These are a few of my favorite things
Drawers of clean laundry and sleep for eight hours
A cup of strong coffee and hot steamy showers
Cheesecake and spring rolls and Buffalo wings
These are a few of my favorite things
The smells of Thanksgiving and coffee shop places
Kids who do homework with smiles of their faces
Cookies fresh from the oven when the bell dings
These are a few of my favorite things
When the kids fight
When the dishes pile
When my heart is achin’
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I go fry up some bacon
Bring on 2010 and more bad-ass, hula-dancing chimps!

There's nothing beats a good bit of bacon. Unless it's more bacon.
